Welcome to the professional web site of illustrator John Maddin. An alumnus of the Pacific Northwest College of Art, he is skilled at creating original work in a wide variety of media, but his main body of work is in Scratchboard.
Texture, form, volume, drama, emotion, all can be conveyed with the subtle variations of light and shade that present themselves with the scratchboard medium.
His work has been featured in several gallery shows in the Portland area, including First Thursday at Portland City Hall. He is accessible for commercial illustrations, book projects, personal portraits, or even a pet.
